Wild licorice
Glycyrrhiza lepidota
other common names: licorice root, American licorice, sweet wood
Glycyrrhiza: from Greek glycys, meaning “sweet,” and rhiza, meaning “root”
Lepidota: meaning “scaled” or “scaly”
Legume family: Fabaceae (Leguminosae)
